***EFI-Power Commander lll & everything related goes here

    I'm making this a sticky

Arthrueld wrote this in another forum & was such great info I am posting it here

Also list ant other tips you found with the PClll

I called Dynojet, told them about decel popping. They had me change all the 0's to 20's in Throttle Position column 0 in rpm range 2000 - 6800.
That probably is not easy to understand unless you have the Power Comander software running.

Anyway, that helped a lot. The only way I could make it pop now was to get up to 6500 rpm and let off the gas while in gear. And even then I only got one small pop. Riding normal it might not ever pop on decel. I get a rumbleing sound when decelorating that could very well be normal.

Re: Stopping the decell popping with a Power Commander lll

Man, I have to get a PCIII.
I had the chip flash done last week and my bike is sick...

It's a RKCI with 700 miles on it. Ness big sucker and wild pigs.

It pops, farts, shits, and damn near explodes on decel and between shifts.

That is no exageration. When running just off idle, like in 3rd gear at 30 to 35 mph, it runs really rough. It'll dang near shake the windshield off.

I can run it up in speed and rpm in 3rd and then twist off and just listen to the symphony of interesting sounds on decel.

I've checked it out for exhaust leaks, I don't see any..

I'm thinking a PC is in my future.

Any other ideas you may have would be most appreciated.

As an after thought, I'm not exactly a cheerleader for the dealer flash..

Cost of 200 bux and it still runs like crap.

No wonder there are companies making a living building things like the Power Commander. .....and doing it for a fraction of the cost of the HD race tuner and it's necessary dyno time.

    Rant off..

Well Slice, I wouldn't feel too bad if I were you because if you ever have a problem with the PCIII, you can just disconnect it and ride on and know you won't harm your engine. Plus I think your rev limit is higher than mine with the stage 1 burn.

I am quite sure you will be happy with the PCIII and their tech support.

    Good luck

Re: Stopping the decell popping with a Power Commander lll

I did the flash with a SE "carb" kit and added the wild pigs. My fuel injected RKC only pops in first gear if I open it up and then let off quickley to shift. Otherwise, I have none of the bodily sounds that Slice describes. This is without the PC3.

Slice, maybe you got the wrong flash from the dealer (or is that possible)?

I also got the Stage 1 flash, with S/E air cleaner and V&H Big Shot Staggered when I picked up my new bike and it rumbles on deccel with the ocassional pop but nothing major and the bike runs strong in every gear...I would go back to the dealer and have that checked.

Slice I have the exact same setup as you, well I did have, got the dealer flash last week, didn't run worse but no better either, just put in the PCIII last night, gonna make the adjustments this weeked Arthur made on his, I think the Wild pigs just have a tendency to pop and crack on decel, which I kinda like, I don't like the pop between shifts though. I'll let you know if I have same results Arthur got.

Re: Stopping the decell popping with a Power Commander lll

Thanks, wide and Art. I will try that either tonight or tomorrow and see if it takes care of the popping on my bike.

    Great info!

Re: ***Power Commander lll Stop decell popping & Other

Here's a couple of screen shots to help explain what i changed in the throttle position zero column. I changed the zeros to 20's in rpm range 2000 thru 6800. per tech support. This helped get rid of most of the decel popping. I'm not finished messing with it so there will be more to follow.
