    you would need a battery and coil as well as a charing system , most likely you have the battery and the charging system already other then that would work have you tryed haveing the mag cheaked out yet before you scrap it the mag is a great system

    I had a brand new 69 xlch in 69. My knee still acts up once in a while

    I don't know if you can change ignitions on an Iron Head that had a mag. I just had to get a mag for my 80 sportster, it's got points now. That works because the timing spot is the same for my ride as it was the last couple years they had points.

    timing 69 XLCH

    I am trying to find out how to check TDC to reinstall the magneto into an iron head 69 sportster. I have been told 3 different ways so I came here after being told of the site. I am doing this as a favor for a friend so I would really appreciate any assistance. Rob
